Set in 1960s Hong Kong, Ko Tai Hei joins the police force after arriving in the city. A gunshot wound leaves bullet fragments in his brain, dramatically increasing his intelligence and turning him into a brilliant detective. However, the transformation also makes him cold, calculating, and willing to use any means necessary to solve cases. As his relationships with loyal friend Bao Ping On, officer Kam Yi Wa, and courtesan Szeto Nam become increasingly complicated, those closest to Hei struggle to save him before he loses himself completely.
