Video Info
In the chaotic early years of the Republic of China, the robbery of the Eastern Qing Tombs became one of the greatest cultural tragedies in Chinese history—surpassed only by the burning of the Old Summer Palace and the invasion of Beijing by the Eight-Nation Alliance.
Rich in imperial treasures, the tombs drew the attention of looters, patriots, and opportunists. Jin Yuze, a relic hunter devoted to protecting Chinese heritage, returns from abroad on a secret mission. Along the way, he rescues and befriends Sun Dianying, a petty outlaw, and settles in Malanyu, the village guarding the tombs. There, he captures the heart of the naive but lively Han Ying, while the memory of his lost love, Su Ying, continues to haunt him.
As Earl Jinni Du, driven by revenge, assembles a team of ruthless tomb raiders, Sun Dianying rises to power and becomes a warlord. Consumed by greed, he launches a military assault on the tombs, blowing them open under the guise of fighting bandits. The desecration sparks a frenzied race among global antiquities dealers, leading to betrayal and bloodshed.
Sun is ultimately disgraced as a national traitor, but the priceless artifacts looted from the Eastern Tombs vanish into history—lost relics of a shattered legacy.
