Set at the end of the Tang Dynasty, the story follows two powerful figures in a divided city. Li Qing Liu is a wealthy silk merchant and leader of the elite Upper Jiuliu. Long Ao Yi is the fierce head of the Longzhu Sect, representing the Lower Jiuliu—made up of street performers, merchants, thieves, and outcasts. When a mysterious burglary rocks the city, the two rivals are drawn into a dangerous game of power and secrets. Forced to confront their differences, they go from enemies to unlikely allies. As tensions rise across Chengdu’s back alleys, foreign lands, and the imperial court, Long Ao Yi and Li Qing Liu must navigate the shifting worlds of jianghu and high society—learning to trust each other in order to survive.
